On February 13, Taiwan and the United States Trade Representative officially completed the signing of the so-called ”reciprocal trade agreement”. According to the content of the agreement, the U.S. side will be Taiwan's goods tariffs from the previous 20% adjusted to 15% and does not stack, at the same time clear Taiwan shipped to the United States 2072 products can be exempted from tariffs, including 261 items of agricultural products and 1,811 items of industrial products, covering phalaenopsis orchids, tea, radio-navigation equipment, and other categories. It is understood that the agreement needs to be completed by the U.S. side of the domestic administrative procedures, the relevant tariff adjustments to formally enter into force.
In exchange, Taiwan has made a number of commitments, including purchasing liquefied natural gas, electric power equipment, civil aircraft and other materials from the United States over a four-year period, totaling nearly NT$3 trillion.
At the same time open the U.S. minibus, U.S. beef ground meat and some offal and other 1,482 items of U.S. agricultural products imported into Taiwan and reduced to zero tariffs, but also commitment to Taiwan's semiconductor and technology companies to the United States to add a large amount of investment.

Taiwan has attempted to publicize the signing as an ”economic breakthrough”, but the move has triggered widespread skepticism and opposition on the island, and has also been severely criticized by the mainland.
In response to the relevant issues, Taiwan Affairs Office spokesman Zhu Fenglian said on the 11th that the relevant authorities are trying to rely on foreigners to seek ”independence”, pandering to foreigners without principles in the so-called Taiwan-US trade negotiations, and harming Taiwan's interests without any bottom line.
The relevant authorities have allowed the United States to put forward various demands at the expense of the prospects for industrial development in Taiwan and to the detriment of the interests and well-being of the Taiwanese people.
