IMPORTANT NOTICE: The U.S. has announced 351 TP3T tariffs on Canada! Other countries may face "harmonized tariffs" of 15% to 20%!

According to the latest trade policy developments, U.S. leaders announced on July 10, local time, that they plan to impose tariffs of 351 TP3T on imports from Canada, effective August 1, 2025....

U.S. leaders are reported to have made public on social media a letter to the Canadian prime minister accusing the Canadian side of retaliatory action for tariff policies previously implemented by the United States.

"Canada has failed to cooperate effectively with the United States, choosing instead to take retaliatory tariff measures." The letter makes clear that "beginning August 1, 2025, we will impose a 351 TP3T tariff on Canadian goods entering the U.S., which will be independent of all other industry tariffs."

The United States has indicated that part of the reason for the new tariffs includes the flow of fentanyl from Canada into the United States and so-called "unfair trade practices". It also indicated that it would consider appropriate adjustments to its tariff policy if it was willing to cooperate with the United States to stop the flow of fentanyl across the border.

Notably, in a telephone interview with the media on the same day, U.S. leaders also revealed a broader tariff plan, saying they would impose "harmonized tariffs" of either 15% or 20% on nearly all trading partners that have not yet imposed tariffs.

"We plan to impose tariffs on all remaining countries at a rate that could be 15% or 20%, and that policy is being developed." It is understood that the U.S. has recently sent notices to more than 20 countries announcing that it will implement the new tariff policy from August 1st.

This series of tariff policy changes will have a significant impact on the global trade pattern, the import and export enterprises need to pay close attention to the policy trends, timely adjustment of business strategies.
